First TandEM online meeting on April 9th

EIT Urban Mobility, which is one of the most fast-paced innovation initiatives of the European Union, just launched its fourth edition of TandEM which I am fortunate to form part of. It is a train-the-trainer programme designed for women who want to lead the way in making cycling more inclusive. As a long-time follower of EIT Urban Mobility and as a cycling enthusiast I could clearly not resist the temptation to participate in the training.

Mainly taking place online, with the exception of one face-to-face meeting in Brussels, the TandEM taining is done in collaboration with BYCS and 15 women across Europe. Through four online sessions and one intensive hands-on training in Brussels we will be guided to become cycling trainers in our own hometowns. All participants, including myself, will hold four bicycle training sessions for small groups of women who wish to learn cycling.

In our own first training session that took place on April 9th we got acquainted to all the participants, discussed the 7 main barriers that keeps women from cycling and got a short glimpse of what we are expected to deliver by the end of the training. Now it is time to start looking for potential partners who would lend us some bikes, and for participants who best deserve to receive the training.

I will be posting updates about the programme in the upcoming weeks. In the meanwhile - any volunteering partners out there?.
